About Ward 6

Where are we

Located in the core of the city, Ward 6 runs from 149 ST East to Commonwealth Stadium, and South of 111 AVE to the North Saskatchewan River.

Who are we

Ward 6 is comprised of some of Edmonton's original neighbourhoods and our newest high rises. We are a diverse blend of historic neighbourhoods and brand new entertainment districts. Edmonton was born in Ward 6, on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River in Rossdale, which was also known as a “pehonan” for Aboriginal Peoples thousands of years before Europeans arrive. With the building of the new arena on 104th ST, Ward 6 houses Edmonton’s major sports facilities as well as the Winspear Centre, Citadel and Art Gallery, cornerstones of the Arts District. We house neighbourhood gems like Chinatown, Little Italy, High Street, and 124th Street. Grant MacEwan, Norquest College and the University of Alberta all have campuses within our boundaries and the brand new Metro LRT Line connects us directly to NAIT. There is simply too much happening in Ward 6 to do it justice on a webpage, get out and see for yourself why we are the heart of the city.
