In my career I came across multicultural communities in Edmonton who venerate their elders. This ethic is admirable and I believe must become a civic value.
It is cliche to say it, but our elders built this city. We must respect their needs and always strive to ensure the quality and security of their lives.
Mayor Stephen Mandel’s councils led the country on seniors issues. Edmonton is the first city in Alberta officially accepted by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a Global Age Friendly City.
I support this work, the city’s seniors plans and commit to building on it, by consulting regularly with seniors in Ward 6 and carrying their concerns and aspirations to City Council and city administration.
